He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Pacific Theater. After the war, on April 10, 1947 he married Virginia Sellers and they made their home in Rankin where he followed his father's occupation as a cotton farmer.
In 1954 Harry and Virgina moved their family to Ennis where he began his banking career with Citizens National Bank of Ennis; then for InterFirst Bank of Ennis for thirty two years as a Vice President. He was a member of the Church of Christ and Ennis Optimist Club.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Basinger of Ennis: two sons, Alan L. Basinger and Kirt D. Basinger and his wife, Nancy; two grandchildren, Katherine (Sommer) and Jay Cody and his wife, Shelby; twin great grandchildren, Luke and Connor along with one sister, Patsy Ruth Peavey.
