In 1920 she married Dr. Payette, an established dentist in Los Angeles. Two daughters were born, Phyllis and Nancy. The family moved to Los Gatos on Glen Una Drive in 1950. Mrs. Payette became an active member of the Montalvo Association and appeared in several musical events. She joined the Foothill Club of Saratoga and was a member of the Board. Her avid interest and knowledge of the game of bridge was well known. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed embroidery and knitting. She continued to play the organ for several churches in San Jose and Saratoga.
Those who knew her will remember her as a peaceful person who understood the importance of being positive and accepting the complexities of the larger world. She had a large group of friends that she cared for dearly. She enjoyed entertaining in her own home by listening to classical music or by watching spectacular operas on her impressive home laserdisc and stereo system. Her love of music was a central theme in her life. Music was her life. She was a great lover of opera, German songs, and classical quarters. Her extensive musical collection of books, records and sheet music has been donated to San Jose University in her name.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Oster of Longmont, Colorado; four grandchildren, Lisa Udis of Longmont Colorado; Robert Piccioni of Tenirife, Canary Islands; Marco Piccioni of Victoria, Spain; and four great-grandchildren.
Ruth Payette was a very independent woman and lived her life to the fullest.
A private interment is planned at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga, California.
