Charles Edgar Wilkinson was the youngest of 10 children born to William Wilkinson (1793-1870) and his second wife Drucilla Hampton (c.1805-1867). He had three half brothers by a former marriage of his father's, so 12 siblings in all.

Charles married Catherine L. Brown (1856-1920s) around 1878. She was a daughter of Albert Brown (1814-1881) and his wife Sarah Atwell (c.1812-1886) of Iredell Co., NC. Charles and Catherine lived at Mooreseville, Iredell Co. for a time, then moved to Greenwood, SC sometime in the late 1880s. They lived at 1003 South Main Street, Greenwood, for many years.

Charles and Catherine had 10 children:

1. Daisy Rankin Wilkinson (1879-1948) m. William C. Claxton (1880-1923) of Port Arthur, Texas, in 1917, married John Bascom Eskew (1868-1956) of Greenville, SC, sometime in the 1940s.

2. Johnsie Brown Wilkinson (1880-?) Mrs. Vaughan.

3. Charles Manardie "Charlie" Wilkinson (1881-1946) m. Maude Glover (1889-1977). Buried in this cemetery.

4. Albert Stamey Wilkinson (1883-1955) m. Minnie. Buried in this cemetery.

5. Junius T. Wilkinson (1886-1907)

6. A. S. Wilkinson (1888-1888), a daughter.

7. Infant Daughter (1889-1889).

8. Katherine Maxwell "Kate" Wilkinson (1890-1966) m. Charles Carroll Smith.

9. Lucile N. Wilkinson (1892-1975) m. Claud Riley Emerson.

10. Ruth Louise Wilkinson (1894-1983) m. Joe Hughey Seal.

Charles died on 8 Dec. 1929, and apparently Catherine had died before him, as he's listed as a widower on his death certificate. I am still researching this family, and would be pleased to hear from any of their descendants. I am descended from Charles' eldest half brother, William R. Wilkinson (c.1816-c.1857/60).
