Cause of death:
After returning from a bombing mission at Cologne, Germany, the pilot of Handley Hampden Mk I X 2147 got disoriented in foggy weather conditions and ran out of gas and crashed killing the crew of four. Those who died were:
Pilot 1: Sgt. Richard William Tudor Clarke R.A.F.V.R. Age 20
Pilot 2: Sgt. Alfred Douglas Cox R.A.F.V.R. Age 22
W/Op/Air/Gnr: Sgt. Percy Thomas R.A.F.V.R. Age 19
W/Op/Air/Gnr: Sgt. Henry George Loates R.A.F. Age 25
