Homer Gray McMillan, Sr., 80, of Vancleave, MS died Monday, February 3, 2014 in Ocean Springs.

Homer, Sr. was born November 29, 1933 in Vancleave to Walter and Marie Goff McMillan. He served in the US Navy and fought in the Korean Conflict. Homer, Sr. retired after 26 years from Jackson County Bridge Department where he was a Bridge Foreman. He was also a Supervisor at the Pascagoula Court House for a time. He and his brothers designed and built many structures.

Homer, Sr. was an Elder and Pastor of the Vancleave Restoration Branch proclaiming the original Gospel of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.

Homer, Sr. was an exceptionally wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and man! He put God and his son first and foremost and taught that to anyone in his presence. Homer, Sr. loved to hug, kiss, sing and dance with his wife daily. He loved doing this with his children and grandchildren as well. He loved traveling and singing.

Homer, Sr. is preceded in death by his daughter, Ginger McMillan Collins; his brothers and sisters-in law, J.W. (Barbara), Walter, Curtis (Laura Mae), Cecil, Donald (Colleen), Woody (Marie), Guy, Huey and Earl McMillan; and his sister and brother-in-law, Maggie (Steve) Kucifer.

His survivors include his wife of 56.8 years, Ethel "Lucy" McMillan; his children and sons and daughters-in-law, Annette Thomas (David), Melinda Thomas (Edwin), Homer McMillan, Jr. (Elayna), Maria Jones (Duane), Tonya Stonham (Sean) and Michael McMillan; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters-in-laws, Otis (Jessie Mae), Larry (Molinda), Shirley, Dale and Kathrine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at the Vancleave Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:30 am. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time. Private burial will follow.
