Philip J. Stremmel, 78, of Manchester Township, died at 9:32 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at his residence.
He was the husband of Louise F. (Eichelberger) Stremmel. Born August 22, 1935, in Hanover, a son of the late George and Gertie (Cornbower) Stremmel
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years of employment, and prior to that had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Church of The Brethren, the Viking Athletic Association, Hawk Gunning Club, Shiloh American Legion, and the Liberty Social Club. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing and spending time in Ocean City, Md., with friends and family. In addition to his wife of 55 years,
Mr. Stremmel is survived by a daughter, Beth L. Repko of Hartsville, S.C.; three grandchildren, Keith A. Russell and his wife, Leah, Kristen L. Zwolak and her husband, Brian, and Aaron P. Repko and his wife, Kanchana; three great-grandchildren, Gabriella Newcomer, Ethan Russell, and Heather Repko; two sisters, Betty Carroll and Pat Smith; two half brothers, Edward Stremmel and George Stremmel; and two half sisters, Judy Stremmel and Nancy Little.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York, with his Pastor, The Rev. Donald G. Hubbell, officiating. Visitation will be 10 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 4219 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
