William Rivers died Monday morning at Wesson Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born at Southbridge, son of Gilbert and Lena (Dionne) Rivers and had been a resident of Springfield for approximately 50 years. He was employed at the Moore Drop Forging Co plant for about 35 years until his retirement a few years ago. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Goyette of Salem, Ore; two brothers, George Rivers of CA and Fred Rivers of this City; a sister, Mrs. Rose Lemay of Worcester; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the Gleason funeral home at 8am Thursday, followed by solemn high mass of requiem in St Thomas Aquinas Church. Burial will be in St Michael's Cemetery.
