OBITUARY-
AUSTIN -- Kenneth N. Braaten, 72, of Route 1, Austin, a retired longtime Hormel Foods Corp. employee, died Wednesday (Sept. 27, 1995) at his home.
He was born March 24, 1923, on the Braaten family farm in Udolpho Township, Mower County, and attended a rural school near Corning, Minn. On Sept. 8, 1946, he married Joyce M. Nelson at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church and they resided in Austin until moving to the family farm near Corning in 1974. Mr. Braaten was employed by Hormel Foods Corp. until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, served on the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery Board and was an avid stock car racing fan.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Bette (Mrs. Randcq) Martin of Owatonna, Jeanne Rennick of Plymouth, Minn. Ellen (Mrs. Tim) Gerber of Adams and Denise (Mrs. Robert) Meyer of Long Lake, Minn.; six grandsons; two stepgrandchildren; a sister, Helen Fahje of Austin; and a brother, Orlean of Elkton. Two brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Harold L. Usgaard officiating. Burial will be in Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery in rural Austin.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
