LCpl. Scott A. Zubowski, 20, was killed in action on Saturday, November 12, 2005 near Fallujah, Iraq.

He was born March 18, 1985 in Dyersville, Iowa to Richard Zubowski, who survives in North Manchester and Barbara (Annen) Weitzel (husband, Greg), who survives in New Castle. He married Klancey M. Eberly on December 18, 2004, she survives.

He graduated from Manchester High School class of 2003 where he was active in cross country, swim team and track. He was a member of the National Honors Society and National Merit Scholarship.

Lance Corporal Scott A. Zubowski enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 6, 2003. He graduated boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California in September 2003. Shortly thereafter, Scott attended the Anti-Tank Assaultman Course at the School of Infantry (SOI), Camp Pendleton, California. Upon graduation from SOI, he attained the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 0351 (Assaultman). In November 2003, he joined Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division located in 29 Palms, California.

At the time of his death, Scott served as TOW Gunner, Team Leader, and Vehicle Commander, Mobile Assault Squad 1 Bravo (MAS 1B), Mobile Assault Platoon 1 (MAP 1). He was fatally injured while on patrol on November 12, 2005, in Fallujah, Iraq by an improvised explosive device (IED).

Scott deployed twice to Iraq in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

His awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Purple Heart Medal
