Marion – Loy H. Burns, 88 died at 8:45 am, Friday, February 2, 2001 at home. He was in the Army during World War II serving in the 716th Tank Battalion in Luzon, New Guinea and the Philippines until December 31, 1945 with the rank of Corporal. He retired in the 1970's from Pepsi Cola as a bottler with 35 years of service He was a Baptist. Funeral Home is Wilson-McReynolds and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
He was born April 14, 1912 in southern Williamson County to Harvey Sylvester and Ida Ollis Burns. He married Wilhelmina Hudgens on October 20, 1931 in Johnson Co. and she died September 28, 1997. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Treveline and Calvin Cline of Marion, 3 sisters and a brother-in-law, Bertha Holderfield, Imogene and Albert Moss and Vida Boyd, all of Marion, and brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Claudia Burns of Carterville. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Lola Mae Burns and Ailene Burroughs.
