Alexander Pickering
Alexander, son of Benjamin and Malinda (White) Pickering was born in Bradley County, Tennessee, June 8, 1852 and passed away at the family home just east of Graysville, July 14, 1936 being at the time of his death, 84 years, 1 month and 6 days old.
He was united in marriage to Miss Rhoda Woods in 1878. To this union was born 12 children-Jonathan of Newton, Iowa; Charley of Grinnell, Ia.; Thomas, deceased; John of Unionville, Mo.; Sylvia of Illinois; Dulcie, deceased; Hulda of Idaho; Maude of Gilman, Iowa; Gertie of Livonia; Blanche of Newberg, Iowa; Guy of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; and 1 died in infancy. He leaves 30 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; 1 brother Lemi of near Hartford; 1 sister Eliza Jane Raney of Unionville. His wife also survives him.
Funeral services were held July 16, 1936 at Rehobeth church conducted by J. H. Fowler interment in the Shipley cemetery.
