RITES ARE HELD FOR MRS. VIRGINIA SMITHSON
Funeral services were conducted at Campbell's Chapel at Cadiz today for Mrs. Virginia Hancock Smithson, 85 year old resident of Trigg County.
Mrs. Smithson died early Monday afternoon at her home in the Caledonia community.
A native and life long resident of Trigg County, Mrs. Smithson was born Jan. 13, 1866, the daughter of David and Ella Hancock.
On Nov. 10, 1886, she married Richie Tuggle and children bu this marriage are John and Roy, both residents of Trigg County, and Jesse Tuggle, who resides in Cincinnati.
Her second marriage was to James Smithson on Nov. 27, 1901. The only child by this union is Mrs. Lora Smithson Trahern of Oakland, Calif.
Mrs. Smithson was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church of the community of which she lived.
In addition to her children, she is survived by three grandchildren, Mrs. Juanita Owen of Oakland, Mrs. Nell Smith of Stockton, Calif., and Richard Tuggle of Eaton, Ohio. She also leaves seven great grandchildren.
Following the services, which were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. J.H. Lyon, burial was held at the East End Cemetery at Cadiz.
Pall bearers were Locke Alexander, Douglas Alexander, Luther Malone, Adron Gooode, Noble Sholar, and Herbert Burke.
