The Rev. Noah David Yount, 88, of Conover, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1980.
He was born in Catawba County Feb. 24, 1892, son of the late J. Alonzo and Sarah Miller Yount. He received his education in the Catawba County school system and graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbia, S.C. in 1918.
His first pastorate included seven preaching points located in Watauga, Avery, Ashe and Caldwell counties which he reached on horseback.
He married the former Rena Bertie Simmons in 1936 and moved to Hollywood, Fla. where he pastored St. John's Lutheran Church for 15 years.
He is survived by one son; one daughter; one sister; two brothers; and four grandchildren. He is survived locally by one niece, three nephews and one brother-in-law.
Services were conducted Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 1980 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Conover. Burial was in Conover City Cemetery.
