Mary Ann Baraka , 89, formerly of Craryville, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont.
Born July 25, 1919 in Craryville, she was the daughter of the later Stanley and Mary Baraka .
Mary Ann was employed as a toll collector with the NYS Thruway Department.
During World War II, she worked as "Rosie the Riveter." Rosie the Riveter is a cultural icon of the US, representing the American women who worked in war factories.
She was a lifelong area resident.
Mary Ann was the beloved sister of Alfred Baraka of Hudson. Also surviving are many friends.
She was predeceased by her sister, Veronica Dunn.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green St., Hudson.
Burial will be in the family plot in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.
