She was a native of Asheville, North Carolina. She was the only daughter of William Wiley Ballew and Nora Cooke Ballew.
Ms. Ballew was preceded in death by her brothers, James Robert Ballew and Charles William Ballew, who died in the opening months of World War II, when their ship, the USS Jacob Jones was sunk in the Atlantic. Her younger brother, Harry Lee Ballew died in 1995 in Hiram, Georgia.
Ms. Ballew was a 1937 graduate of Lee Edwards High School and a 25 year employee of Gerber Baby Food in Arden, N.C., retiring in 1985. She was previously employed by the Department of the Navy and Hechts in Washington, DC. Ms. Ballew was a past officer in the Pilot Club and the American Legion, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Asheville.
Ms. Ballew is survived by her son, Michael Ballew of Burke, Virginia.
Burial was in the cemetery of Bent Creek Baptist Church, Buncombe County, N.C.
