HERVEY B. NEAR FUNERAL ON SATURDAY:
Hervey B. Near, 80, a resident of Shelby Township for 75 years, died at his farm home on Jan. 11 following an illness of several months. Mr. Near was born in Humberstone, Ontario and came here with his parents at the age of 11. He grew to manhood here and on August 7, 1892, was married to Miss Sarah Morningstar. Since that time they have occupied a farm on the South Ferry road. Mr. Near was a man of quiet and retiring disposition but every acquaintanceship he made developed into a friendship. He was a life-long member of the Mennonite church. Besides his widow he is survived by three brothers, Menno Near of Shelby, Irvin Near of Muskegon, Fred Near of Vancouver, BC, and three sisters, Mrs. Melissa Fogelsonger, Mrs. Ann Fogelsonger and Miss Fanny Near of Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Mennonite church.
