Anne Frances Simmons Stripling, 90, widow of Wesley Capers Stripling Jr., died Tuesday at a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church.

Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Stripling was born Dec. 21, 1904, to William Thomas Zachariah Simmons and Annie Elizabeth Halsell Simmons.

First a lawyer and later a district judge in Tarrant County, Judge Simmons was born and educated in Mississippi.

Mrs. Simmons died when her daughter Frances was 4 years old.

She was reared by her grandmother, Mrs. John Glenn Halsell, in the house that later became the Cross Keys Restaurant.

She graduated from Kent Place in New Jersey.

Mrs. Stripling married "Dub" Stripling in 1925. They were married for 61 years, and continued to ski in Colorado until both were in their 70s. The couple and their three children lived for many years on what was then the city's edge, where the 6333 Camp Bowie shopping center is now.

Mrs. Stripling was active in the Junior Leage and the Assembly, which she served as president in 1940-41. She and her husband were members of River Crest Country Club and the Fort Worth Boat Club.

During World War II, while Maj. Stripling was in the Army Air Forces, she served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, driving for its Motor Corps.

For many years she also worked as a volunteer in the emergency room of John Peter Smith Hospital.

Officiating ministers: the Rev. Dr. K. Wayne Day and the Rev. Bert Honea.

Pallbearers: John Glenn Halsell, Edwin S. Ryan, Philip K. French, Dan Yarbrough, Edward Halsell, Willing Ryan, Jimmy Stripling and O.K. Shannon III. Honorary pallbearers: John R. Halsell and Ben J. Fortson.

Survivors: Two sons, Wesley Capers Stripling III of Fort Worth and Dr. Jeffrey Simmons Stripling of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter, Marianne Stripling Self of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren, Wesley Capers Stripling IV, Sharon Stripling Holland, Dana Stripling, Van Griffith, Robert S. Stripling, Thomas Alan Stripling, Ryan Harrison Stripling, Lindsey Berry, Lisa Berry Evon and Margaret Anne Berry; nine great-grandchildren, Cape Stripling, Darraugh Stripling, Bowie Holland, Clayton Holland, Walker Holland, George Reichenbach, Clay Evon, Candace Griffith and Crystal Griffith; niece, Virginia Conrad; and Virginia Conrad's two daughters, Sally Conrad Beyer and Judy Conrad Jeoffroy; and their children, Laura, Conrad and Matthews Beyer, and Louis Sheppard.
