On recruiting service in Tennessee for 35 days by order General Lee. Present March and April 1863 until wounded twice by gunshot and captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 3 July 1863. Admitted 12 July 1863 to USA General Hospital, Fort McHenry, Maryland near Baltimore. Sent from Fort McHenry POW Camp, Maryland to Johnson's Island, Ohio POW Camp 23 August 1863 transferred to Point Lookout POW Camp, Maryland 22 April 1864. Paroled at Hammond General Hospital, Point Lookout 3 May 1864. Exchanged and absent May and June 1864, sick in hospital. Detailed for leave by Special Order #141/16, AIGO 17 June 1864. Detailed for leave by Special Order #212/22, AIGO, 7 September 1864. Detailed for leave by Special Order #263/9, AIGO 4 November 1864. Retired 18 November 1864. Assigned to Invalid Corps Special Order #275, 19 November 1864. He was a great sufferer from his wounds, and died from their effects.
