James Oliver Lively, (Pete), 56, of Radford, passed away Thursday, January 23, 1997. He was a self-employed electrician, and was a member of Local Union #637 IBEW, and a member of the Belview United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of VFW Post #1184 of Pulaski, New River Chapter #138 of the Vietnam Veterans, and was a member of the Christiansburg DAV.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Frank Lively.

Survivors include his wife, Betty T. Lively of Radford; his mother, Nettie Boone Lively of Radford; one son, James David Lively of Radford; one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth L. and Cort Via of Aurora, Colo.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Zelda and Leslie Boyd of Dublin, Arleta and Robert Boyd, and Betty and Ernest (Bud) Craft, both of Radford; four grandchildren, James Michael Lively, Courtney Michelle Lively, Jessica Danille Lively, and Olivia Jane Via; special friends, Nelson Ward and Jessie Correll.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 1997, at 10 a.m. at the Belview United Methodist Church with Rev. Mitchell Emswiler and Everette Shepherd officiating.

Interment will follow in Highland memory Gardens in Dublin, where members of VFW Post #1184 of Pulaski will conduct military rites. Arrangements by Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
