Bertha C. Smith of Flat River died Friday, May 7, 1976 at Washington County Hospital being 81 years of age. She was born July 18, 1894 in Bollinger County, a daughter of the late Wm. B. Salyer and Emma Davis Salyer.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Tony Smith, Sr.; two sons, Henry O. Smith and Tony Smith, Jr.; and her parents.
Surviving are: one daughter, Mary (Mrs. Wm.) Chapman of Highland, California; one sister, Geraldine (Mrs. Clyde) Ford of Sikeston; and several grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Sunday, May 9, 2 p.m. with Rev. V. E. Defreece officiating. Interment was in Christian Cemetery in Fredericktown under the direction of the Caldwell Funeral Home of Flat River.
