Terrence Adam, 76, of Moline, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4-7pm Wednesday at Christ the King Church with a Christian Wake at 3:30pm. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Parish or Alleman High School.

Terrence James Adam was born July 2, 1937 in Harper, IA to Raymond and Viola (Klett) Adam.

Terry moved to Taylor Ridge in the 1950's and graduated from Alleman High School in 1955. Terry was an avid car enthusiast and loved his cars, especially his 1956 Chevy Bel Air. He married Donna Mae Kinsey on Sept 6, 1958 at St. Ambrose Church, Milan. They were married over 55 years. They moved to Moline, where they lived for 52 years and moved to East Moline 3 years ago.

Terry worked hard to provide for his family, working two jobs for several years so Donna could stay home with the children. He worked for Montgomery Elevator, Iowana Dairy, Turnstyle and eventually went to work for Deere & Company Administration Center in the maintenance department in 1964. As the computer age was just beginning, he was asked to join Deere & Company's Data Processing department. He retired from Deere in 1992 after 27 years of service.

Shortly after his retirement, he started his second career, as a citizen volunteer with the Moline Police Department. Terry sat at the front desk, answered the non-emergency calls, handled the mail, greeted people, helped the records clerks and did whatever he was asked to do. He "retired" from the MPD in 2013 after 20 years, and 12,000 volunteer hours. He completed the very first Citizens Police Academy program, and enjoyed riding along with the officers, participating in agility testing and disaster training drills. At his retirement from the Police Department, he was given the following awards: Outstanding Citizen Award presented by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police; Moline Police Department Civilian Service Award and Moline Fraternal Oder of Police. He often stated that he had missed his calling, police work was his passion.

Through the years raising four children, Terry was very active in their lives. He was a past President of the Franklin Elementary Dad's Club and loved to coach sports. He was a member of the Elks Club, Knights of Columbus and Father Betson Council. He enjoyed camping, vacationing at Trout's Resort in northern Wisconsin and after retirement, wintering in Fort Meyers Beach, Florida. Terry was a diehard St. Louis Cardinal fan and a loyal follower of the Fighting Illini and the Chicago Bears.

He was always tinkering with something. He also loved taking care of his yard and was always willing to help anyone that could benefit from his many talents. For over 40 years the family lived on 18th Avenue Court in Moline and was one of the original families. The "block" was a great place to live and raise his family. He was a charter member of Christ the King Parish, Moline, where he served on the Parish Council for many years.

Terry loved to golf and got a hole in one at Saukie. He volunteered as a holemarshall at the John Deere Classic for over 25 years. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events, theater and musical productions.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, children Lisa (Jim) Craig, Moline; David Adam, Naperville; Tim (Johnna) Adam, Moline and Krista (Jon) Castro, Geneseo. Grandchildren include Matt and Betsey Baker and Scott Craig; Jon and Sarah Adam; Lauren, Caroline and Ian Adam; Jamie and Tyler Adam, Matt, Alyssa and Brynley Castro. Great-Grandchild is Kynlee Adam.Sister Carol (Ben) Morgan, Clearwater, Florida; sister-in-law Teresa (Mark) Corso, Edwardsville, Illinois and 7 nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the 4 South nurses at Unity Point-Trinity West and everyone at Heartland Healthcare Center for the compassion shown over the last several weeks.
