Orville Felton Alford age 65, of Lake Station, passed away Saturday, February 13, 1993. He was a Lake County resident since 1957, born in Artemus, Kentucky, April 6, 1927, the son of Green Berry Alford and Roxie Alice Baird. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Station, was retired from Inland Steel in 1986 with 17 years of service, was a member of VFW Post #9323 in Lake Station as well as a member of American Legion Post #100 and was block captain of his neighborhood watch program.

Survivors: wife, Pauline Leger Alford of Lake Station; 5 children, Joseph Orville (Helen) Alford of Portage, Peggy Lynn (Raymond) Drews of Lake Station, Sherry Lee Alford of Lake Station, Debra Janline (Daniel) Zwierzchowski of Rifle, Colorado, Richard Anthony Alford of Florida; 5 grandchildren; Steven Edward Winady of Lake Station, Troy Joseph Alford of Portage, Richard Daniel Zwierzchowski and Kelly Janine Zwierzchowski of Rifle, Colorado; 4 brothers, John P. (Willie Faye) Alford of Burleson, Texas, Doyle D. (Martha) Alford of Littlefield, Texas, Robert G. (Anne) Alford of Breckenridge, Texas, Jason L. (Sue) Alford of Three Rivers, Michigan; 4 sisters, Lyda M. Katrinak of Corbin, Kentucky, Flora J. Alford of Cleveland, Ohio, Gwendolyn (James) Crawford of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nina Sue Sullivan of Rockford, Illinois; mother-in-law, Nannie Leger of Barbourville, Kentucky; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Green Berry and Roxie Alice Alford, and father-in-law, Frank D. Leger.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 17, 1993 at the First Baptist Church of Lake Station, 1309 Central Avenue, Lake Station, Pastor William D. Blosch officiating. Entombment Calumet Park Cemetery [Lake Co., IN].

The family prefers memorials to the American Lung Association. American Legion/VFW memorial services Tuesday 7:30 p.m. Visitation Tuesday, February 16th from 2-9 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, 762-3013.
