James F. "Jim" Wheeler Jr., 88, died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Born in Flora to J. Floyd Wheeeler and Ada Nowels Wheeler, he married Edna L. Foutch on Feb. 8, 1932. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Wheeler graduated from Flora High School in 1929 and attended Indiana University where he was a member of Delta Chi and Alpha Phi Qmega. He left school to enter the automobile business with his father and grandfather in Flora. He worked at Alcoa in Lafayette and Bridgeport Brass, Adrian, Mich., owned a Gamble Hardware Store in Rochester for 15 years, then operated Jim's Refrigeration and Appliance until he retired in 1983.
Survivors include three granddaughters, . . . : an adopted daughter, . . . ; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles [Wheeler] and James [Wheeler], III, and two brothers, Joseph [Wheeler] and John Wheeler.
Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Reinke Funeral Home, 103 N. Center St., Flora. Graveside services will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Memorial contributions may be made to his family.
