Richard A. Putnam, 60, prominent in local golfing and bowling circles for many years, died Friday at his home at Excelsior.
Mr. Putman was an outstanding pole vaulter while attending West high school in 1914. He continued his interest in track with constant attendance at University of Minnesota cinder events.
Mr. Putnam suffered a heart attack about 18 months ago.
A longtime member of the Minneapolis Athletic club, Mr. Putnam was employed by the Falk paper company.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanora; a son, Richard, Jr.; a daughter, Coralie; a sister, Mrs. Harold Warmington, Minneapolis, and a brother, Robert, San Diego, Calif.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Thomson Brothers mortuary, with burial in Lakewood cemetery.
