Peter Biegel
1919-2006
He was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Wien, Mo., to Joseph and Mary (Abraham) Biegel, and had lived in LaPorte for 15 years, coming from Midlothian, IL.
Mr. Biegel retired as an accountant from Lamantia Brothers Produce Company after 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte VFW and Knights of Columbus St. Michael's Council 1542. He was a graduate of Northwestern University and Chillicothe Business School, Chillicothe, Mo. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
On Sept. 28, 1946, in LaPorte, he married Virginia M. Minich, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sylvia (Ken) Lubinski of Niles, Ill., and Elizabeth (Jim) Anderson of Tinley Park, Ill.; two sons, Peter (Alice) of Sarasota, Fla., and John of Huntington Beach, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and two brothers, Anthony of Wien and Donald of Prescott, Ariz.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, James Joseph; and one brother, Joseph.
A funeral Mass will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ted Nordquist officiating. Friends may call at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m., with a wake service at 5:30 p.m.; and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, LaPorte, with military services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice."
