Charles F. Erdman
Charles F. Erdman, 71, 538 N. Pearl Street, a retired section foreman of the North Western railroad, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at his home. Death came suddenly following a heart attack.
Mr. Erdman was born in Knipphoff, Pomern, Germany, Nov. 26, 1874, and came to the United States in 1892 with his father and three brothers. They settled in Helenville [WI]. He married Ella Sievert in Rome, [WI] and she died in January, 1930. Mr. Erdman married Mrs. Mary Stanke, of Harvard, Ill., Feb. 21, 1934 in Rockford, ILL., and they came to Janesville in April, 1934, when the former was transferred here by the railroad. He retired May 10, 1938 after 40 years of railroading.
Surviving are his wife; three step-sons, Herman, Edward and Louis Stanke, all of Janesville; two step-daughters, Mrs. Magdalena Brooks and Mrs. Wilmer Hamre, also of Janesville; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Fred, Otto, and William Erdman all of Northern Wisconsin, and Richard Erdman, Janesville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. H. C. Milius will officiate and burial will be in Harvard, ILL. Friends may call at the Overton funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.

Funeral services for Charles W. Erdman, 538 N. Pearl Street, were held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rev. H. C. Milius officiating. Mrs. Arthur Marko and Mrs. George Buehl gave the song service and burial was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard, ILL. Pallbearers were Edward Semro, Gust Wolfgram, Robert Gaies, Ernest Damerow, Edwin Hamre and Arthur Corey.
