Gabriel was baptized on 10 April 1630, in Rouen, France in St-Etienne-la-Grande-Eglise. According to his baptismal record in the registar's office at the church, he is the illegitimate son of Thomas Lemieux and Anne Le Cornu. He was baptized in the presence of Anne's father, Jean le Cornu. It states that Anne and Thomas were carnal souls, dwelling together with the verbal promise of marriage.

His father died of the bubonic plaque before his parents could be married, so he was raised by his aunt and uncle Louis Lemieux and Marie Luguan (her first husband, Thomas's brother, Pierre, also died from the plague).

He immigrated to Canada to work with his cousin Pierre (son of Marie Luguan and Louis Lemieux). There is a notarized statement on his marriage contract to Marguerite Leboeuf, stating that he is the son of Louis Lemieux and Marie Luguan, so until recently, it was believed that they were his biological parents.

He married (1) Marguerite Leboeuf on 3 September 1658, in Quebec. They are the parents of the following (verified with PRDH):
1) Nicolas (1659- )
2) Marie-Helene (abt 1660-1746) md (a) Rene Paquet dit Pasquier and (b) Robert Foucher
3) Gabriel (1663-1739) md Marie-Jeanne Robidoux
4) Marguerite (1666-1667)
5) Marie-Madeleine (abt 1668-1734) md Pierre Martin dit Langousois

Gabriel married (2) Marthe Beauregard on 26 November 1671, Notre-Dame-de-Québec. They are the parents of the following (verified with PRDH):
1)Louis-Theandre (1672-1749) md Marie-Anne Carrier
2) Michel (1673-1750) md Marguerite Samson
3) Marie-Marthe (1675-1761) md Mathurin Labrecque
4) Marie-Charlotte (1677- ) md Ignace Samson
5) Guillaume (1679-1701)

After living in Quebec for some time, Gabriel settled in Lauzon, where he was buried on 3 December 1700.

St Anne Statue Plaque, Mont-Marie Cemetery, Section Lauzon
The two cemeteries of the city of Levis were opened after 1885. Before this date, all the residents were buried around the two Catholic churches: St-Joseph-de-la-Pointe-de-Levy [from 1673-1885] & Notre-Dame-de-la-Victoire-de-Levy [from 1851-1885]. About 2 years after the opening of the Mont-Marie cemetery, all of the 15,000 corpses around the 2 churches were transferred and located in a special place near the St. Anne's statue in the cemetery of Lauzon. Gabriel's body was moved to this location by the statue.
