Lucina Drought was born 13 Aug 1860 in Racine County, Wisconsin to Thomas Drought and Caroline Mathilda Howard. At age 20, in 1880, Lucina was working as a dressmaker for a highly respected carpenter, John Jesse Blocksidge, and his wife Catherine Elizabeth (McPherson).

That same year, John told the family he was taking a large sum of money and going west and he would send for his wife and three children after he found a place to settle. When he didn't make contact, it was generally believed that he met with an ill fate.

In truth, John had run off with Lucina and the couple went West to live as husband and wife in 1880. The couple welcomed three children to their family: George Arthur Blocksedge (1881-1946), Tina Mary Blocksedge (1885-1942) and Florence Blocksidge (1890-1940). For at least a time, John and Lucina lived under the surname Sedge.

Shortly after the birth of her youngest child, Florence, Lucina died and was buried under the name Lucina Sedge.

NOTE: Daughter Florence (Blocksidge) Trudeau was raised by her paternal uncle, William Ebenezer Blocksidge in Wood County Wisconsin. She is liked to her adoptive parents (William and his wife Marilla Beauchaine Blocksidge) in Findagrave. All are buried in Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield, Wood, Wisconsin.
