Rev. Jesse E. Edwards was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister at Bayou de Chien Church in Water Valley, KY and in 1914 at Calvary Cumberland Presbyterian Church 8 miles south of Mayfield, KY. His parents were Rev. Jesse Edwards (1804-1851) and Louisa Looney (Brigham) Edwards (1811-1851) who grew up as close neighbors near Erin, TN and eventually moved their family to Hickman County KY in 1848. After both of his parents died in 1851, Jesse E. Edwards was put under the guardianship of his eldest brother William Henry Edwards (1827-1914). He married Fannie E. Weaks abt 1869.
