My son was very small and I didn't 'need' a dog. But this little runt stumbled out of the straw and into his lap and he said , "Look Momma, Baby Derl {girl}" I knew she was coming home. For the next 15 yrs, she played Superman, doctor, wore makeup, got her hair cut with safety scissors, her belly painted with markers, trick or treated, built snowmen, welcomed new members to the family, and fought with everything to stay with us. She beat Cancer, a stroke and alopecia from medication, always coming back better than before. We always marveled at how she stayed so majestic and proud and remained constantly attentive to US even at her weakest. She was proud, wise and loving beyond any other being I have ever known. On January 21, 2013 her many battles came to an end. The biggest heart ever to grace this earth, had weakened with age. Surrounded by her fur family and the people who loved her, she left the world. When there is such a bond that no words need to be spoken , you just know that that kind of love lives forever. No, she didn't get to dress up for Halloween this year, or open presents Christmas morning . But we hung her stocking like always. She will always be with us. We love you Baby Derl. anonymous, Clarksburg WA

I was so taken with the love expressed to Baby Derl had to make a memorial for her. Have tried to find the owner but the Animal Rescue site does not keep records of those who write in about their recued fur baby's. Cyndy B.
