HOMER - Stanley C.Porteous, 78, of 7 Park Ave., died Sat. morning at his home. Services will be at 2 pm Monday at Briggs Brothers Memorial Home, the Rev.Harry Stull of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Scott Union Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Reid Porteous; 2 sons, Arnold of Star Lake & Walter Porteous of Springfield, VA; 2 daughters, Mrs. James Adair of Tampa FL & Mrs. Albert Quatro of Cortland; 3 brothers, Arthur, Ralph & Hugh Porteous, all of Winchester Canada; a sister, Mrs. Russell Bowman of Canton; 9 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren. Born in Ormond, Ont., he was the son of Alexander & Mary Canner (sic Carkner) Porteous. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Homer. He came to this country 46 years ago & began a long career with Sheffield Farms in the company's Canton plant. He was transferred to the Homer Sheffield Farms plant 30 years ago. He retired several years ago. Mr.& Mrs.Porteous celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1969. During his retirement he remained active as custodian of Homer American Legion Post 465.
