Tommie "Jean" Aaron

LUBBOCK - Tommie Jean Aaron, 85, of Lubbock was escorted to her next life by a choir of earthly angels on Jan. 20, 2014. Celebration of life services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Lakeridge United Methodist Church.

Jean was born in Amarillo, Texas, on May 12, 1928, to Tom and Gladyse French. She was an accomplished rider and represented the Home Economics Dept. of Texas Technological College in many rodeos. Being an excellent seamstress and multiple award-winning porcelain doll artist, Jean opened Yesterday's Dolls Today where she taught others her craft and restored many treasured antique dolls. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and a past president of the Lubbock Dollers Club. The most treasured dolls in her life were always her family and friends. She was always the first one out the door for an adventure, loved experiencing other cultures, and was the spunky extension of generosity, grace, and love.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Clinton Rogers, Jr., of Dallas; and husband, Duane Aaron, Sr., of Slaton, Texas; and is survived by a brother, Donald French of Lubbock, Texas; her daughters, Teresa Jean Liebscher and Larry of Redding, Calif.; and Anna Ruth Aaron-DeSpain-Richardson and Ernie Fields of Lubbock, Texas; beloved stepchildren: Duane Aaron, Jr. and Sue of Louisville, Ky.; Shirley Woolam of Slaton, Texas; Paul Aaron and Cathy of Ft. Worth, Texas; Steve Aaron of Slaton, Texas; and chosen daughter, Kristina Carpenter and Rick of Waco, Texas. Of her combined 20 (+3) grandchildren, she was co-mother to Corbin Jay DeSpain and Sydney Jean DeSpain; Also, left, are several great-grandchildren, relatives, and numerous adoring friends, and her canine companion, Peanut. She will be relentlessly and uncompromisingly missed.
