Mrs. Ophelia Bailey Henerey Dukes, 81, died at the Wallace Thompson Hospital in Union at 3 am today following several years of failing health. She is the mother of John M. Dukes Jr. of Manning. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Tuesday at the Padgett Creek Baptist Church near Union. She was bom in Union County where she spent her entire life. She was twice married, first to the late Rev. Dawson Henerey, a Presbyterian minister, and secondly to John M. Dukes of Route 2, Union. She was a member of the Padgett Creek Baptist Church, teacher of the Ophelia Dukes Ladies' Bible class, an active member of the Women's Missionary Union and the home demonstration club, a graduate nurse, and a former matron of Thornwell Baptist Orphanage.

Surviving with her husband are three sons, William Thornwell Henerey of North Charleston, Robert G. Henerey of Nahant, Mass., and John M. Dukes Jr. of Manning; four daughters, Mrs. Edith Drummond and Mrs. Billy Taylor, both of Woodruff, Mrs. Florence Page of Greenville, and Mrs. Virginia Heatherly of Orangeburg; 19 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
