Frances Tullulah Ware was born on September 8, 1871, in Alabama, her father, John, was 32 and her mother, Phoebe, was 35. She had one brother and one sister. She died on April 27, 1957, in Amory, Mississippi, at the age of 85.
AMORY, Miss. — Services for Miss Frances Ware, who taught he primary department of the Tupelo schools for many years until her retirement about six years ago, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Pickle Funeral Home with the Rev. W.L. Day of Tupelo and the Rev. J.F. Measells of Amory officiating. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery here.
Miss Ware, known affectionately as "Miss Fannie" to the thousands of children whom she taught in the third grade of the Tupelo school, died at 9 a.m. Saturday at Whiteside Nursing Home in Maben, Miss, where she had resided since her health failed.
After teaching in South Mississippi and for about two years in Amory, Miss Ware came to the Tupelo Schools as a young woman and continued teaching here until her retirement, earning a reputation as one of the fine instructor of youth in the city. She was teacher of the third grade at Church Street Primary School when she retired.
Keeping up with the latest is teaching methods and materials, Miss Ware attended Iuka Normal, Mississippi Southern College, Peabody College and Howard University and took many additional summer courses during her life. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church here.
She leaves two nephews Albert Ware of Amory and Edgar Ware of Albuquerque, N.M.: and two nieces, Mrs. S.J. Jones of Aberdeen and Mrs. T.J. Carlton of Carlsbad, N.M. Amory Advertiser – 31 April 1957
