Kevin Wayne Jenkins, 44, of Frederick, passed away surrounded by family and friends on October 19 at Cancer Centers of America, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Samantha E. Rohrer Jenkins with whom he had been married for 15 years. Born on October 22, 1968 in Frederick, he was the beloved son of Gordon T. and Joy M. (Steinhaus) Jenkins.

Kevin was a career Frederick County firefighter, having entered fire service in July of 2000 and continued until his retirement in 2012. He was stationed at Independent Hose Company #1 and later at Green Valley Substation. Kevin was also a volunteer and life member of United Steam Fire Engine Company #3 since 1987. While with United, Kevin served as a member of the Board of Directors, Vice President, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Personnel Director, Purchasing Director, EMS Coordinator as well as serving on numerous other committees. Mr. Jenkins also drove for the Youthful Offender Program from 2009 to 2012. He began work in 1986 for National Geographic in Silver Spring, where he continued until 1997. Additionally, Kevin was a diligent and valued funeral associate at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home since 2003.

In addition to his wife and parents, Kevin is survived by his cherished daughter, Ashley Nicole Jenkins; siblings Sheriff Chuck Jenkins and wife Shari, Gary Jenkins and wife Donna, Diane Lease and husband Donnie and Lisa Gainey; nieces and nephews Nicole Baugess, Joseph Lease and wife Amber, Kara Jenkins and husband Ryan, C.J. Jenkins, Jessica Gainey, Meaghan Jenkins and Kamyran Gainey; great nieces and nephews Audry Baugess, Logan Jenkins, Bailey Jenkins and Alaina Baugess; parents-in-law Sam and Gloria Rohrer and sister-in-law Shawn Rohrer. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Raymond E. "J.R." Gainey, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 23 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24 at 11:00 AM at International Community Church of God, 123 Byte Drive, Frederick, Rev. J. Kenneth Stalls officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
