WW1 nurse. May was the seventh child of Arthur Charles M Bowman and Clarissa (maiden name unknown). Her siblings were; Florence A (1869 - ?), Charles Huffington (1870 - 1892), Percival Stephen (1871- 1956), Ethel Marian (1874 - ?), Edward Horace (1875 - ?), Kathleen C (1877 - 1935). May enlisted for the Australian Army Nursing Service on 26 April 1915, giving her brother Percival as next of kin, and embarked 15 May 1915 from Sydney on the RMA Mooltan. She saw service in Egypt, France and England, nursing the wounded Robert Grieve in London. Robert arranged for her return to Australia on 7 June 1918 and her discharge on 26 June 1918. Robert married May on 7 Aug 1918 at Scots' Church in Sydney. They did not have any children. It is unclear how May died and why she had returned to London.
