Clarence F. Bandelier, 97, of Roanoke, IN, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at 6:45 a.m. at Renaissance Village, in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Bandelier graduated from North Side High School, Fort Wayne, in 1934 and studied accounting at Indiana University. He worked as an administrator, auditor and accountant at Eskay Dairy from 1934 to 1939, at Phelps Dodge from 1940 to 1941, at Farnsworth Television and Radio from 1941 to 1949, at International Telephone and Telegraph (ITT) from 1949 to 1974 and at the Indiana Department of Revenue from 1974 until his retirement in 1981. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard 152nd HQ.
He was a 50-year member of Roanoke Masonic Lodge 195, where he served as master in 1958 and as secretary for 30 years; a 50-year member of Huntington York Rite, where he served as high priest in 1958, illustrious master in 1959 and commander in 1960; and a 50-year member of Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Knights of the York Cross of Honor, Indiana Priory 8 and Mizpah Shrine.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, in Roanoke, from 1948 to 2012 and served as president of the administrative board, finance chairman, treasurer and Sunday school superintendent. He joined Aldersgate United Methodist Church, in Fort Wayne, in 2012. He served as secretary of the ITT Federal Credit Union board of directors from 1960 to 1976 and was a life member of the National Association of Accountants. He helped organize Cub Scout Troop 3131 in 1951, serving as representative of the sponsor, Christ United Methodist Church, and as ceremonies chair and merit badge advisor.
He was born Oct. 4, 1916, in Linn Grove to Emil Louis and Lillian Minnie Annie Beach Bandelier. He married Crystal May Kienzie on April 9, 1939, and she preceded hum in death on June 30, 1979.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Kay Trimble, of Ida, MI, and Celia Mae Bandelier, of Roanoke; a son, Charl Ray "Chuck" (Karen) Bandelier, of Columbia City; a brother, Paul (Patricia) Bandelier, of Sun City Center, FL; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes, Roanoke. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. John Newberg will officiate. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wane.
