Gene was a 1955 graduate of Manheim Township High School and worked for Federal Mogul, formerly Bearings Company of America, until his retirement. He was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of various clubs through the years. Gene was an avid hunter and loved to spend time on the water boating, fishing, and crabbing. Gene also enjoyed working in his garage. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "Happy Pappy."
In addition to his companion, Marian, Gene is survived by his three children: Roxanne L. Landis, wife of the late Richard Landis, of Roaring Branch, PA; Douglas E. Singleton, husband of Carlene, of Simi Valley, CA; and James R. Singleton, husband of Carol, of Columbia; nine grandchildren: Adam, Benjamin, Jesslyn, Hunter, Chad, Claire, James, Jared, and Jacob; twelve great-grandchildren: Riyanne, Signey, Alexis, Keegan, Kesslyn, Braden, Jayden, Madisyn, Harlie, Bailey, Joseph, and one on the way. Gene is also survived by four siblings: Jack W. Singleton, husband of Pat, of Lancaster; Kenneth Singleton, husband of Darlene, of St. Clair; Elileen Bennett-Mohr, wife of Rich, of Mohnton; and Dennis Singleton, husband of Jean, of Lancaster.
Graveside services will be held for Gene at 1PM, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Colemanville United Methodist Cemetery, 210 Colemanville Church Rd., Conestoga, PA 17516. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Gene's name be made to the American Heart Association of Lancaster, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, 19004.
