St. Croix Courier Newspaper, September 21, 1916.

A dispatch received on Saturday last by Mrs. Frank Purcell, of Milltown, officially announced that her son, Pte. Francis H. Purcell, was killed in action September 7th. Her husband, Pte. Frank Purcell, is in a hospital in England having been wounded some time ago.
The deceased, Pte. F.H. Purcell, enlisted in February, 1915, sailed with the 5th Battalion, transfered to the 14th Battalion. He was wounded in April, 1916 and sustained shellshock in June last. He was 20 years of age August 11. (St. Croix Courier front page with pic, September 21, 1916)
