CURWENSVILLE - Mrs. Josephine V. Derck, 71, of 515 State St., Curwensville, died in the Clearfield Hospital Saturday May 6.
She was born in Lumber City, June 5, 1917, a daughter of Achille and Mary (Vita) Berdine.
She was a member of the St. Timothy's Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, the Curwensville VFW Auxiliary, Curwensville Sons of Italy Auxiliary, and Curwensville American Legion Auxiliary.
She worked for Clear-Don Manufacturing Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1979.
Survivors include sons Harry E. of Rochester, N.Y.; and David L. of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a brother, Anthony Berdine, Curwensville; sisters Mrs. Catherine Leal, Oakmont and Mrs. Melvin (Edith) Orcutt, Curwensville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry B. Derck, in 1949; a brother, Joseph b. Berdine; and sisters Rose Rossi and Leonore Bartocci.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Timothy's Church Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Robert Fedor will officiate and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the Leavy-Valigorsky Funeral Home, Curwensville, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until 10:45 a.m. tomorrow when the procession will leave for the church.
Christian Vigil Services will be held at the funeral home at 3 p.m. today.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Hospital or the local unit of the American cancer Society.
