Clyde Sherman Oaks, 84, of Stanford, KY passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017. Born in Waynesburg, KY to the late Charlie and Pearl Jane Simpson Oaks, he was the widower of the late Jane Oaks.
Clyde was a Korean war veteran where he served the Army as a tank driver in the 5th division, known as the ?Red Devils?.
He was a Kentucky Colonel for 45 years and was also a member of the American Legion.
After serving in the war he came back and retired from Whirlpool as a repairman after 25 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing,
He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
Survivors include his step-son; Wayne Hale of Stanford, KY; Three brothers, David Oaks of Waynesburg, KY; Kenneth Oaks of Waynesburg, KY; Dennis Oaks of Moreland, KY.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter Oaks, Willy Oaks, Paul Oaks, Matt Oaks, and Otis Oaks; and four sisters, Ruth Rector, Edith Nave, Mary Nave, and Martha Farmer.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Max Hester officiating.
Burial in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.
