Funeral services for Joseph Madison Achord will be held this morning, with brief service at the Welsh Funeral Parlors at 10 O'clock followed by services at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ascension Parish. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The Rev. H. T. Comish will officiate.
Achord, who was 67 years of age, died yesterday morning at 1:40 O'clock at the residence on Greenwell Springs Road. He was born in Livingston Parish and had resided in this community for the past 27 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Ella Nickens; two sons, John and Bonnie Achord; three daughters, Mrs. M. C. Hubert, Mrs. Eddie J. Thibodeaux and Mrs. L. E. Green; one brother, Chester Achord; three sisters, Mrs. Winters, Mrs. Alvin Kimble and Mrs. Glover Watson, all of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
