Elva June Andrews was born June 16, 1931 to Harold and Esther (Smith) Sorensen. She went to her Heavenly home on January 16th, 2014 at Bethesda of Beresford at age 82.
Elva was raised on the family farm northeast of Beresford where she attended Pleasant Hill school and Beresford High School. She then worked for the Beresford City Telephone Office as an operator.
Elva married the love of her life, Bud Andrews, on June 15, 1952 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Beresford. Together they lived on a farm near Beresford, where they raised their three children. She worked hard on the farm, but her true passion was her family. She was a selfless mother and grandmother that enjoyed nothing more than her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for baking, sharing countless wonderful recipes with her family and friends. She was a true Christian and active member of Roseni Lutheran Church, devoting much time to her faith family. She loved playing cards, having taught all her family how to play pitch and kings corner. She loved life and found joy in sharing time with everyone she met. Throughout her final years her beautiful smile and ability to tightly hold their hand demonstrated continued love for her family.
Her parents, husband, brothers Harlan and Harlan Harvey Sorenson, and sister Isabella Wells preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Steve (Nancee) Andrews of Beresford and Bob (Tammy) Andrews of Beresford, daughter, Nancy Andrews of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren, Roxanne (Jeff) Powell, Christy (Tony) Rangel, Amy (Troy) Gillespie, Mary (Mike) Wickersham, Jim (Michelle) Andrews, David (Jessica Anderson) Andrews and Daniel Andrews; 11 great-grandchildren, Spencer, Alexa, Jackson, Brooklyn, Bennett, Isabel, Grace, Jameson, Elena, Emma and Anna; and sister Eva Marie Hansen of Sioux City.
Funeral services will be 1PM Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 19 from 4-8PM with family present from 6-8 PM.
