Percy was the Son of Walter William Adnitt (1859-1956) and Mary Amelia Adnitt nee Cleaver (1863-1928) of Watford Village, Northamptonshire. In addition to his memorial grave in the Churchyard ar St Peter & St Paul's Church in Watford Village, his name also appears on the War Memorial within the Church itself. 41315 PTE P.H.Adnitt. 10th battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. In August 1917 the 10th battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment, attacked the Hindenburg line in the Arras sector, not far from Perrone, and took the Germans by surprise, before being withdrawn. He was killed in action at Thiepval, France on August 28th 1917, aged just 19 Years. His name is inscribed on the Thiepval Memorial in France as well as on the war memorial inside the church at Watford. The gravestone (which lies in the North side of the Churchyard) is a memorial grave placed there by his family, as his body was never recovered. His elder brother Arthur Cyril Adnitt also joined-up and served in the Devonshire Regiment.
