KALKASKA MAN DIES AT 98
Kalkaska - Enock P. Beebe died Thursday at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center at the age of 98.

Mr. Beebe was born near Le Raysville, Pennsylvania Nov. 14, 1862 to David P. and Ellen Mary (Ross) Beebe. He was the oldest of four children. His sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

The family came to the Grand Traverse region in the spring of 1867 and homesteaded in Clear Water Township on what is now known as Titus Road. The family moved to the village of Kalkaska in 1870 when the senior Beebe became county sheriff.

Mr Beebe married Margaret H. Halspin on May 5, 1888 at Almira New York. They returned to Kalkaska
in the fall the same year and lived here since.

Three daughters were born to this union, Laura, Mable and Leona. Mrs. Beebe died in October of 1953.

Surviving are a daughter Mable Beebe of Kalkaska; four grandsons and four great grandchildren and four nephews and four nieces.

Mr. Beebe worked in the Freeman Woodware factory, Kalkaska for years, later farming in Excelsior Township. In 1910, he became a rural mail carrier and retired fron that postion in 1931. He was a member of the People's Church here. A 62 year member of Kalkaska Masonic Lodge, member of the O.E.S.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 P.M. at the Scwartz Funeral Home with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.
