Thomas B. Albright

Thomas B. Albright, 88, of Ormond Beach, passed away January 9, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Thomas was born in Greensboro, Alabama on January 8, 1926, son of the late Darrell Gray and Rubye Virginia Stokes Albright. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy. After he was discharged he attended the University of Florida majoring in Forestry and graduated class of 1949. He is an avid Gator fan and enjoyed spending weekends watching football. Thomas was a well-respected forester, an honest business man and very loyal to those who he worked with. He founded Volusia Timber Corporation and supported many within the industry. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on his sons farm always looking for something to fix. A resident of Ormond Beach since 1966, Thomas was a member of Riverbend Community Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years Evelyn, sons, Bruce David (Leticia) of Sugarland, TX; Scott Randall (Kim) of Ocala; and Craig Newton (Fawn) of Ormond Beach; brother Charles of Cocoa Beach; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his son Thomas; brother, D.G.; sister Carolyn "Jinx" and grandson Mark.

The family will receive friends Sunday (today) 4-6 PM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home Monday 10:00 AM followed by interment in Volusia Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in his memory to Vitas Hospice.
