Services for Alton T. Brookshire, 82, of Lufkin, will be held in the Cornerstone UPC Chapel in Lufkin with Darrel McCoy and Bro. John Boone officiating. Interment will follow in Berry Cemetery.

Mr. Brookshire was born Feb. 15, 1931 in Lufkin, the son of the late Era (Haley) and Pearl Winfred Brookshire. He passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 in a local hospital.

Mr. Brookshire was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was crazy about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the owner/operator of DK Donuts in Groves, Texas for 30 years, where he was the best donut cutter around. He worked as an iron worker and was a member of the Boilermaker Union. He served his country as a corporal and worked in communications with the United States Army for five years during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Brookshire was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Brookshire; sons, Dennis Keith Brookshire and wife Kristy, and Dalton Karl Brookshire; daughter, Deborah Kaye Brookshire; grandchildren, Audrey, Autumn, Brandon, Jessica, Desa Rae, Michele, Mykah, Kenneth, Ryan, and Joshua; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Glenn Brookshire and wife Marie, and Richard Brookshire and wife Bennie; and sisters, Pauline Yount, Juanita Cody, and Ineta Beck.
