Vicar of Eccles from 1559 until his death. Fellow of the Collegiate Church and Head Master of the Grammar School at Manchester. He dies testate with a will written June 7, 1576, which was proved at Chester, July 18, 1576.

Second son of Thomas Pendleton of Manchester.

By his wife, Ann Newton, he was the father of four known children, Edward, Francis, Thomas, and Elizabeth. His widow Ann remarried Thomas Warburton (d. 1597), parson of Warburton in Cheshire.~ Rev. Dr. Edward Pendleton I ~

Matriculated at Oxford in 1547-48. He was a very flexible clergyman. First a Catholic, he became a Protestant upon the accession of King Edward VI, but switched back under the Catholic rulers, Philip and Mary, who gave him a vicarage at Eccles, near Manchester. Under Queen Elizabeth, he again became a Protestant. He was called by a person named Wood "the famous schoolmaster of Manchester, in Lancashire, who was admitted at Oxford to the reading of any book of the Faculty of Grammar, and to the degree of Bachelor ofGrammar, being incorporated of Oxford in 1547.
