Russel graduated from Hayes School 8th grade in 1934 and Pigeon High School in 1938.After school, Russel had three different jobs from 1938-1970. They are 1938-1948 Waigle Canning Factory, Pigeon Michigan; International Harvester 1948-1956; State Farm Insurance 1956-March 25, 1970.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Windsor #420, Pigeon, Michigan.Russel was also on the Board of Directors Senic Golf Club, Chandler Township, Huron County, Michigan.
Russel passed away on Oct. 10, 1996; at Scheurer Hospital, Pigeon, Michigan. Burial:Section"A", Row 3, Block 105, Grand Lawn Cemetery, Pigeon, Huron County, Michigan, USA.
