Graveside services for J.W. 'Pee Wee" Hastings, age 88, of Amber, Ok, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, in the Amber Cemetery.

Rev. Roy Mosier will officiate with Jack Jerman and Rev. Johnny Wray assisting.

J.W. Hastings was born the son of Amos Hastings and Rena Stephens Hastings on March, 25, 1917 in Duncan, Ok. He died Nov. 8, 2005 in Chickasha.

On Jan. 3, 1940, he married Winifred Bonner in Chickasha. The were married more than 60 years. J.W. moved to Amber in 1921 as a young boy. He graduated from Amber High School and then attended Oklahoma University for a short time. J.W. began farming with his father in his early years. He operated a grocery store and a restaurant in Amber for many years. J.W. also worked at the lumber yard in Tuttle.

For the past 50 years, he served as administrator/caretaker of the Amber Cemetery, while his wife served as the secretary of the Amber Community Cemetery Board. their devotion to the cemetery led to the establishment of a trust which now provides for it's perpetual care.

Hastings was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Winifred, and three sisters Prebble McCalla, Lavon Hastings and Fern Tims.

Survivors include sister Joy Cook of Chickasha and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
